The ubiquitous white perch is great fun to catch on light tackle in the summer here in southern Maryland. Normally a trip out to the dock or nearby breakwater in the warm months can produce a few scrappy fish for quick sport. I especially like catching them on a light fly rod. This picture was painted for a good friend of mine, John Hall, an octogenarian who is known as the perch man in these parts. John and I always enjoy sharing stories over a cup of coffee, when he‘s not schooling me on light tackle fishing.
