“Striped Bass”

By Marty Shubert
Oil on Canvas, 12″ x 16″

The Striped Bass, or Rockfish as it is known here in Southern Maryland, is normally here throughout the summer as a resident fish, with lengths approaching over 30 inches. But in the spring and late fall, the larger fish migrate into the Chesapeake from their Atlantic waters. This picture is based on a beautiful example of the species which was caught this last spring, nearly 40 inches long, full-bodied and displaying iridescent colors of lavender and blue mixed into the stripes along with reflective gold scales in the dark green back of the fish. In the vintage edition of this picture, the print was done with slightly muted colors for the background to provide a decorative alternative to the original edition.

One hundred limited edition fine art Giclee canvas’ have been produced from the artist’s original oil painting.

Two hundred limited edition fine art Giclee prints on Somerset Velvet paper have been produced from the artist’s original oil painting.

The artist has approved the proofs and techniques in the production of these canvas’ and prints. Each canvas and print in the edition has been personally approved and signed by the artist and consecutively numbered.

This original painting is not available for sale.
