Oil on Canvas, 9″ x 12″
This is my first attempt at an oil portrait and I could not have asked for a more interesting subject. This individual, who I called Rasta helped guide my family into a remote waterfall in the tropical rainforests of the Caribbean island of Dominica. His calm demeanor and piercing gaze, along with his colorful clothing just yearned to be captured on canvas. After a trip to Italy, where I studied the works of Michelangelo, Rembrandt, and the likes, I came home and immediately painted this portrait. It remains in our private collection as a very fond family memory.
This painting is in private collection.
